OHDA Sponsorship
The Ottawa Highland Dancing Association (OHDA) is a parent-run, charitable organization founded in 1951 to promote highland dancing in the Ottawa area. The year 2011 will see the OHDA celebrate 60 years of operation.
Our association has an exciting program lined up for the 2010-11season starting with a two-day weekend of competition on October 23 & 24, 2010. Canada’s Capital City Open Championship will be the highlight of Day 1. A prestigious event, it provides the wonderful opportunity for our most experienced competitors to demonstrate the excellence of their talents with traditional Highland dancing and is open to Highland dancers from anywhere in the world. There will be seven champions crowned that day, along with Runner-ups 1st thru 5th. 2010 will mark the beginning of the 2nd decade of this event. Day 2 will provide a competitive opportunity for all levels and ages of dancers, from the brand-new beginner to seasoned competitors. A few special events are also planned for that day.
On February 5 & 6, 2011, the OHDA will host another two-day event, showcasing the choreography talents of our teachers and dancers and, again, is open to any and all dancers who would like to participate. The choreography skills of our local dancers have won top prizes nationally and internationally. In celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the OHDA, plans are now underway for hosting a 60th Anniversary Gala in early spring. Our top choreography talents will be included amongst an exciting program for that evening’s entertainment.
Subsequent events for our competitive athletes are in April and possibly June. These are excellent opportunities for our youth to participate in combined cultural and athletic events.
We are asking for your support for our youth in their cultural and physical growth. Dancers often benefit from not only the healthy living aspects of dance, but also many close friendships are made, and an awareness of self and performance is greatly enhanced. Our dancers make excellent citizens in giving back to their community, becoming public speakers, and confident professionals as they pursue their goals and careers.
Our Sponsorship Package outlines the various levels of support including annual, multi-year, and event-specific, that you or your company can provide to the Ottawa Highland Dancing Association. The foresight of the founding members and that of many others along the way has led us to what we enjoy today - a thriving, vibrant Highland dance community. It is only with the ongoing support of its membership and your sponsorship that the OHDA can continue to sustain its objectives.
