OHDA Sponsorship
The Ottawa Highland Dancing Association (OHDA) is a parent-run, charitable organization founded in 1951 to promote highland dancing in the Ottawa area. The year 2011 will see the OHDA celebrate 60 years of operation. The OHDA has an exciting program lined up for the 2011-2012 competition season and we are looking for your support as a sponsor.
The competition year started with a two-day weekend on October 22 & 23, 2011. Canada’s Capital City Open Championship was the highlight of Day 1. A prestigious event, it provides a wonderful opportunity for our most experienced competitors to demonstrate the excellence of their talents with traditional Highland dancing and is open to Highland dancers from anywhere in the world. There were seven champions crowned that day, along with Runner-ups 1st through 5th. The Championship is now in its second decade. Day 2 provided a competitive opportunity for all levels and ages of dancers, from the brand-new beginner to seasoned competitors. A few special events also took place that day. On February 18 & 19, 2012, the OHDA will host another two-day event. In the afternoon of Day one, we were honoured to be chosen to be the first in Canada to host the first of its kind, a ScotDance Canada Open Premiership Event. This will be a prestigious event whereby the lesser-known Scottish National Dances, Irish Jig and Sailor’s Hornpipe are highlighted for our more experience, Premier level dancers. In addition, we will also be hosting events for our Pre-Premier dancers in the morning. On Day 2, the choreography talents of our dancers and teachers will be showcased in a Choreography Competition. The choreography skills of our local dancers and others who participated, have won top prizes nationally and internationally. Subsequent events for our competitive athletes are on April 29th and June 16, 2012. These are excellent opportunities for your youth to participate in combined cultural and athletic events.
We have various levels of sponsorship, suitable for both Corporate and Individual sponsorship. This sponsorship program is structured as an annual sponsorship. However, multi-year sponsorships would be welcome, in particular, for our special events such as Canada’s Capital City Open Championship or OHDA’s Choreography Competition
